Born in Dortmund, Ursula-Maren Fitz now lives as a freelance artist near Lake Tegernsee. Her artistic work includes paintings as well as objects and sculptures. The material follows the idea. One of Ursula-Maren's recurring themes is how people meet and treat each other. In her work, she deals, among other things, with transience, the journey into the afterlife, and the vulnerability and need for protection of the human soul.
Glass has played a special role in her work for more than 15 years. In the studio, among other things, glass objects and installations are created with glass, melted into lost shapes or freely formed in the glassworks, sometimes in combination with bronze, barbed wire or stone. The works are often cut and polished with patience, a quiet, almost meditative work.
The clear, puristic objects that result from this touch the soul with their soothing shape and colour. A perfect example of this are the fragile glass objects that symbolically rest on a protective bronze base.
Ursula-Maren Fitz studied art and German at the University of Dortmund and at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf and completed her state examinations. She has been self-employed since 1991, including as a lecturer, curator and in specialist juries. She is also a member of the BBK (professional association of visual artists), the BDK (professional association for art education) and 1st board of the Bavarian artists' association GLASHEIMAT BAYERN.
Her work has won multiple awards, is represented by galleries internationally and can be found in public and private collections, including in Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Russia, China, Brazil and Australia.
